Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer/Automation Engineer to join our team on a part-time, contract basis, with the potential for full time work. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in mechanical design and automation with an emphasis on robotics, with expertise in simulation tools and system development. You will play a key role in designing, simulating, and prototyping robotic end effectors and related systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop robotic end effectors and integrated robotics systems, and other automation hardware.

• Conduct simulations using tools such as Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Factory Design utilities.

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure design feasibility and system integration.

• Create detailed mechanical designs, CAD models, and technical drawings.

• Perform testing and validation of prototypes to ensure performance meets design specifications.

• Document design processes, modifications, and testing results.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred).

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in robotics or automation systems.

• Technical Skills:

o Proficiency in CAD tools such as Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, and Factory Design software.

o Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, robotics, and automation technologies.

o Hands-on experience with prototyping and assembly of mechanical systems.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with control systems and electrical integration.

• Experience working in agile, collaborative environments.

• Residing in or near Portland, OR, or New York, NY, with availability for on-site work.

Working Conditions:

• Part-time, contract-based role with flexible hours.

• On-site work is preferred at either our Portland, OR, or Brooklyn, NY locations, though some remote work may be possible.
